Thank you for this excellent information! The 1882 observing site at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, was marked with a stone tablet that still exists. I'll photograph it at my first opportunity and send you a copy. The early 6-inch refractor at Trinity was made by Henry Fitz of New York and is now in my collection. The later telescope that was purchased new by Trinity was a 6 5/8-inch refractor by Warner & Swasey (with optics by the John A. Brashear firm). This was circa 1895 as I recall. The later telescope, unfortunately now missing its original governor mechanism and lower base casting, is now also in my collection.

Maybe its not gonna end in 2012 as some people are saying. Maybe our world has already taken the hit - and we are the decendants of the survivors?
